Solar Thermal Heating - How it Works

The collector on the roof harnesses the available rays from
the sun.
Copper coils within the panels have a mixture of water and ‘antifreeze’ in
them which is heated by the rays of the sun even on cloudy days. These coils
are called
the ‘solar circuit’.
Once the solar circuit is heated to at least 6 degrees hotter than the water
in the tank the pump sends this heated water to the tank where to heat is transferred
to the household hot water supply.
